Think Outside the Box- TV Time

Do your kids watch way too much TV? According to Johns Hopkins University, a reduction in TV viewing is vital to preventing behavioral problems in children. And really, the quality of programs available now is very poor. The only thing I will let my baby watch is Mommy and Me and Baby Signing Time right now, both of which are excellent for parent child interaction. But if your kids are a little older and watch a lot more TV, BabyGearToday.com has a great product for you. TV Time.

If you would like to help your kids learn good television viewing habits early, then TV Time is something you should really check out. It is a very simple idea, a few cardboard tickets worth 15 minutes and and a 15 minute hourglass timer. You can choose how much TV your child is allowed to watch, just place that amount of time (tickets) in the box with the timer. Give it to your child, allowing them to decide when they want to redeem their tickets. It can be a great reward system also, give 15 minute tickets for doing chores or other helpful things. But, when the tickets for that week run out…that’s it. No more TV for that week. When the next week arrives, open the box and start again. This teaches your child the value of the tickets. When your child is out of tickets, it is important to stick to your guns and not allow them any more TV time. Instead, try to get your child involved in another healthy alternative, play a game with your child, find something really fun to do instead. Go for a walk, or play ball, something outside. It would also be really good to use at regulating Internet or video game use as well. Kids spend way too much time playing video games and hardly ever get any physical exercise any more. I think TV Time is an excellent idea, when used consistently, will definitely help to manage the amount of TV Time your child watches. Go get your TV Time today. Visit their site here.
