Post image for Shea Moisture Baby Products Review!!

Well, I am a pretty much weekly shopper at Target these days (or daily sometimes). And of course, I always have to go to their baby isle every time I go in. Well, a few months ago I saw product that I had never seen (or heard of) before and knew I absolutely had to try it. I knew it had to be good because it was sold out already- except for 1. It was the yummy smelling- Organic Raw Shea Chamomile and Argan Oil Baby Healing Lotion!! The name itself says it all!! What immediately caught my eye was the Organic factor, and upon looking at the other ingredients, it looked as if most of them were all natural ingredients such as Mango Seed Butter, Frankincense, Myrrh, Japanese Honeysuckle, Argan Nut Oil, and so many other yummy smelling ingredients.  Once I opened up the bottle I knew this was definitely something that would be a new staple in our girls bath routine. Since the lotion was the only item I could find, how excited I was to be able to review the entire baby product line from Shea Moisture for all my viewers.  The Baby Line consists of Lotion, Head- To- Toe Ointment, and Head- to Toe Baby Wash and Shampoo. Shea Moisture is a company that was established in 1912, Sofia Tucker, who had been selling Shea Nuts in Sierra Leone at the village market. At 19 she was widowed and a mother of 4!! To provide for her family she began selling Shea Butter and Black Soap and her homemade hair and skin products all over the country. I love her story and the products that have resulted from all of her hard word and determination! All of the Shea Moisture Baby Line is Paraben, Phthalates, Paraffin, Gluten, Propylene Glycol, Mineral Oil, Synthetic Fragrance, Animal Testing, PABA Synthetic Color, DEA, and Sulfate Free!!!! What I love just as much as the completely intoxicating smell is the fact that it leaves my girls skin super soft! The Shea Butter, Argan Oil, and Frankincense and Myrrh help to moisturize, heal, soften, and protect baby’s sensitive skin. The Shampoo and Body Wash lathers up so much my girls think they are getting a bubble bath! I was a little concerned with all the soapy bubbles that their hair and skin would be dried out a bit, but not at all! Now I do not use shampoo on my older daughter’s hair so I can only speak for my younger daughter. It leaves her hair soft and smelling super yummy!! I am not certain if it is tear free as the bottle does not say, but as with any bath product I would keep it out of the eyes. I love the Baby Lotion just as much. Smells so yummy and leaves their skin soft without being greasy! I also had the opportunity to review the Head to toe Ointment. I use this awesome ointment on my girls knees, elbows, and my youngest with diaper changes to help prevent rash. It is a perfect alternative to the other vitamin ointmenst or pertroleum based products out there- and it smells so yummy.   I have to admit that I have frequently stolen these products for myself as well!! I am sooo happy to have found these wonderful baby products from Shea Moisture. The only place I have been able to find them is at my local Target and Walgreens, so check yours today! You can see the other bath and skin products from Shea Moisture HERE! They have some really awesome hair and skincare products (you gotta try the Curl Enhancing Smoothie!! So yummy and works so good to moisturize and tame curly tresses!!!)

Hey Jessica,

i wanted to let you know I spoke with my contact at She Moisture and she said to look at your local Walgreens, for now that is the only other place to find it- hopefully it will get wider circulation- I don’t know what I will do without it!!! LOVE IT

We love Shea Moisture Baby Healing Lotion and Baby wash. Our local Target no longer carries it either. Today I called Sundial Brands directly. I was told that the baby line is exclusive to Target and was only a trial. She said that they are waiting for Target’s sales feedback…that will determine if Target will be selling it in the future. It is not being sold anywhere else, the baby line that is. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

I absolutely love this product! The scent is simply beautiful. The clean look, shine and curl that it produces in my daughters hair is awesome. I only wish I could post a picture to show how wonderful the product agrees with my childs hair. The only down side is, it is not that easy to obtain at your local Target once they are sold out. We have two washes left, I went to Target specifically for Baby HEAD-TO-TOE and they were out, so I purchased Burts Bees in the meantime. Abosolutely no comparison, in fact I’m returning it. My daughter’s hair does great with Shea Moisture and I find that I will do whatever I have to, to find this product. So far, I’ve only found it at Walgreens Online. Anyone, please advise if it hits other retailers.

I did the exact same thing- buying the Burt’s Bees instead- no comparison at all!! As of now- local Target’s Walgreen’s and Online at Walgreen’s are the only places to get it!!

I, too, LOVE this product. Was so stumped when Target stopped carrying it. These baby products work on everyone – baby, teens, adults – especially on sensitive skin! Will keep buying over & over. =D

Unfortunately I just ran out and went on walgreens.com and it says it is out of stock and it isn’t available at any of the stores near me. SO disappointed. I used Hugo naturals Shea soap before this and was not happy with it. I absolutely love this stuff!

I guess I’m odd man out on this one. My daughter bought a tube of the ointment for my young granddaughters and it is, hands down, the stinkiest lotion I’ve ever smelled. Reminds me of the Tigress cologne my grandmother wore in the 1960s. It’s been 2 hours and a more than a dozen handwashings since I tried this ointment, and I still can’t get the stink off. As someone who makes personal care products that variously contain many of the ingredients in this ointment, I must say that there’s nothing in the ingredient list that could account for the smell. It doesn’t smell like either frankincense or myrrh, nor any of the other oils on the list. Between the overpowering smell and the inability to wash the stuff off, my best guess is that this does, indeed, have a synthetic fragrance added. In addition, the first 3 ingredients are hard butters. There is no way, in the absence of water as an ingredient, that this ointment could have this consistency. Lastly, the honeysuckle extract (which is a preservative) may actually contain parabens. If all of this is okay with you, my only advice would be to double-check the smell before buying. Reading about the internet, I see only positive reviews on the scent. Everyone sells is smells yummy, delicious, sweet, etc. Not my experience. Either my daughter bought a tube from a bad batch, or I’m in the minority. The smell of the stuff we bought might be fine for an elderly diva, not a baby.

Hi Laura, yes we are all for sure entitled to our own opinions. You definitely are the first I have met that doesn’t like the smell- it is now the only lotion I buy for my girls… maybe it was a bad batch, or just your personal preference. I think the fact that is hard to wash off is a plus because when you use the healing ointment on the diaper area your really don’t want it to just come right off. As for the synthetic fragrance- they do not list any, but I will be sure to check with them just incase. Thanks for your comment and sorry you didn’t care for it.

I bought the body wash for my son. He has dry skin and thought it would be great. While opening the bottle during his bath one night it squirted in my eye. My eye was instantly on FIRE!! I couldn’t believe how badly it hurt. I flushed my eye out with water for several minutes and even put in eye wash to help flush it out. My eye was red and hurt to keep it open. After an hour and a half my eye was back to normal. I’ve had soap in my eyes before and never hurt this bad. I will NEVER use this AGAIN. I can’t even believe this is a baby soap

I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience. My girls have been using it for months and never complained at all. I know the numbing agents they put in soaps aren’t natural ingredients so maybe that’s why they don’t contain them. I know it doesn’t say tear free on the label. It’s too bad we can’t have it both all natural and tear free. Again sorry for your experience.

I just discovered this stuff at Target and use if for myself since my toddler has nut allergies. IAmazing stuff! Wish I’d found it ages ago! I wanted to read some reviews and came across your most useful one – thanks! I use California Baby Calming Lotion for my daughter – works really well for eczema prone skin in case anyone is interested!

Got this in my eye while bathing my son and it felt like acid burning my eye. It has been 4 hours and my eye still hurts and my vision is blurry. I will never use this on my child again. Please be careful using it with your kids!

I saw these products recently at Target but there were only one left of each of the baby line they carry.. My son has ezcema and I’m always looking for something new to try as nothing we’ve used has worked. Well, a week later, I can say, the ointment was AMAZING! I’ve used Alba’s Unpetroluem Jelly, Vaseline, Aquaphor, and California Baby.
I just bought the Head to Toe Shampoo today so I hope it’s as great as the ointment!

I love using the lotion. The all over body wash, I think dries out my daughters hair. I prefer to use Cara B NAturally on her hair.

Great review :)
