As promised, here it is! The 2010 Joovy Ergo Caboose Review! How excited I am to be able to tell everyone about this awesome stroller. With two little ones I was super excited to be able to review the Joovy Ergo Caboose for you. If you had a chance to read the unboxing, you saw how very easy it was to put together, the first of many awesome features in this stand on tandem double stroller. Joovy has taken the original Caboose and made some really great changes that I think all will love! Having a double stroller previously, and since getting rid of it because it was so bulky and hard to steer, I think I can give you my honest opinion about this stroller.
The first thing Joovy changed from the original Caboose was the canopy- they made it more rigid and durable so as to not get blown around by the wind. One of my favorite things about this stroller is its canopy. Both the front and rear canopies are very generous on size- giving both riders great protection from the sun and wind! My oldest daughter loves that you can remove the rear canopy and she can stand up and see everything. She also loves that the rear conopy has a mesh ”window” that she look out and still see everything while staying protected from the sun at the same time.
The next thing Joovy changed was the front wheel suspension. I don’t think I have ever driven a stroller that turned as well as this one. At first I had the front brake on, and I was thinking- man this is really hard to steer, then I figured it out! I had forgot to take the brake off! Well, the second I released the brake it turned on a dime! It rolls better than most single strollers I have used. You almost can’t even tell it’s a double stroller. Some people have commented that it is hard to steer- I wonder if they had the same problem? After the initial brake dilema I have not had any issues with steering at all. The third redesign point is the recline on the seat. They now use a magnetic lock mechanism for easy adjustment. It adjusts smooth and easy, great for when your little falls asleep. I love the ergonomic seat that helps eliminate pressure points by distributing your child’s weight. It reminds me of those ergonomic computer chairs, very comfy!! Speaking of the front seat- a parents life saver- the Ergo Caboose has a swing open tray so you can get the kiddos in and out easily, especially if you have one that has chunky little legs, sometimes it’s hard to get them out of stroller seats! If you have older children, you can also completely remove the child’s tray and replace it with two cup holders instead. I like the tray myself, but my girls are still kind of small and like to put their snacks in the tray. The rear seat is contoured and padded so the older child can ride in comfort as well.
The basket underneath is huge!! It’s a little hard to get to if your second child is sitting, but once they are out, you can raise the back seat for easy access. Mesh pockets on the side are perfect for putting things like keys or small toys in, I even put the mail in them. And if it couldn’t get any better- the car seat adapter. Most tandem stand on strollers put the smaller baby in the front, too far away from mommy, but this stroller keeps your infant right there in front of you.
The Ergo Caboose is compatible with most infant car seats, but check their site for a list to be on the safe side. Combine weight limit for the front and back rider is 90 pounds- that is a lot of weight. My two girls together only weigh about 58 pounds. I guess we have a few more years of good use out of this stroller! I have had my share of strollers in my time, but this is by far my favorite! The only thing is that there isn’t a place for me to put my iced chai while I’m out for a walk, but that is a problem with an easy remedy. A parent organizer is available for purchase. Its fold super easy and is a bit large when folded, but definitely not the largest that I have had. My single stroller from my travel system was almost as big as this and it only held one child- it felt like it was the same weight as well! The Joovy Ergo Caboose only comes in black, which to me is great, it’s sleek and stylish- but if you want a little color- they have super cute covers in all sorts of hip color options- my favorite- Purpleness!! LOVE IT!!! So in my opinion, a great stroller- great look- super stylish, comfortable for both kids and mom, or dad, and is easy to maneuver. The Ergo Caboose has many awesome features that make it well worth the price. After all, you will be using it for several years, and who wants to be pushing around an uncomfortable enormous stroller for 4 or 5 years? I absolutely am in love with this stroller as are my girls. My oldest calls this her “cool” stroller. And cool it is! Go check out the 2010 Joovy Ergo Caboose HERE.
