If you have read my blog at all you know I love baby wearing. My back doesn’t always love it, but the girls and I do! Well, we recently had the opportunity to review a carrier from NAP, Inc. called the Boba carrier. Many may recognize them from their oh so popular SleepyWrap. Well, now they have a carrier made just for the older tots and kids! If you are a baby wearer like myself you know as the babies become tots, it becomes a strain on you and them to tote around for very long. Boba Carriers have some really great features to help alleviate that strain. Boba Carriers give a few extra inches of fabric in the back to keep babies closer, thus reducing the strain on you and your baby. The Boba carriers are structured carriers that can be worn either as a front carrier or back carrier for babies 1-4 or 15-45 pounds. There are several things about the Boba Organic Carrier that I was particularly impressed with.
First and foremost is it made of 100% Organic Texas Cotton. One more small thing if you are trying to go Green! I never even thought of buying anything organic until I had kids. Then I started realizing all the chemicals they put in our babies clothes and other gear- It’s scary!
Next, the waist and shoulder straps are made with a high density foam making it more comfortable to wear -lots of padding to keep the straps from cutting into your shoulders and waist. I also was impressed with how much the straps could be adjusted. The Boba carrier is able to fit most adults. Most carriers I have tried fit me fine, but when my husband tries to use it, the straps aren’t very comfortable for him, they really dig into his waist, or won’t fit at all. He could use this carrier with no problem.

Another thing I really loved was the removable foot rest. Meant to be used by toddlers from around 18 months and up, these awesome foot straps help to :
enable a healthy sitting position
provide proper leg support in the flexed abducted position naturally tilt the pelvis,
fills out hip sockets, aligns spine
the more leg support, the less pressure absorbed by the spine
takes the pressure off of the hamstrings
reduces the leg dangle gives feet a place to rest
ensures complete blood flow throughout legs
no pinching of the major nerve behind the thigh.
One thing that I found definitely unique was the added height to the carrier. While this is probably a great feature because it helps to :
envelop the whole back
secure your toddler
give them the option to put arms in or out
pull them closer to you
prevents the “leaning away from you” feeling
reduces shoulder strap pressure
allow you to stand straight as you should
bring your center of gravity toward your body
Unfortunately, my younger daughter did not like the added height at all and would not let us carrier her in it even for a few minutes. My preschooler on the other hand was perfectly content, she probably would have let me carrier her everywhere in it. The added width to the seat should offer complete leg support up until 18 months to 2 years (after this foot strap use will compensate to provide complete and proper support) and allows complete enveloping of of our babies body to bring your child closer to you. The added sleep hood is also a nice addition. Any mom who is an avid baby wearer knows what happens when your little one falls asleep. If their head isn’t flopping around, the bright sun is shining so bright it can wake them up. The attached hood is a welcome addition for sure!
The Boba Organic Carrier was easy to use, comfortable for us and our older daughter, and has the added perk of being Green! You can go check out all the designs of Boba Carriers HERE.
