Preparing for your new baby can be a very overwhelming task. What exactly do you need, or not need? Will I forget something that is really important to have on hand? With this wonderful book, Baby Lists, you can feel at ease knowing you are completely prepared. Elaine Farber, the author of Baby Lists, knows a thing or two about which baby products are essential to have for a new baby. Being a nanny, consultant to expectant parents, childcare professional, she has worked in hospital nurseries, and a mother of three, has given her much needed insight in the preparation department.

Working in the childcare profession for twenty five years, and her vast knowledge of just what it actually takes to make things a little easier, makes her someone you can look to for trustworthy advise. Her book Baby Lists is a detailed list of items that you will need to help prepare you and your home for your new baby. I wish I had discovered this book before I had my daughter, it is truly an excellent resource for new parents. The first chapter is about choosing a hospital, things you should think about before choosing the hospital you will deliver your baby at. The end of the chapter has questions to ask when you are at the hospital and it even had a place for you to write in the answers to your questions. There are chapters that deal anywhere from your birth plan to what baby gear you will need- features to look for, brands, safety features, everything you need to know about baby gear. My favorite chapter is on stocking your first aid kit/ medicine chest. I am a nurse, and there are things in there I didn’t think of to have in case of an emergency. For instance, Activated Charcoal, I wouldn’t have thought to get that for my baby, but it makes perfect sense, if she drinks something and it is not advised to induce vomiting, you would want something to absorb the liquid. She even gives websites where you can check out the products mentioned. To all expectant moms, or if you have an older baby, you can definitely benefit from this great book.
