This is by far one of the most useful products I have received! Baby Signing Time DVD’s are the greatest! Signing Time was created out of tragedy in the life of Rachel, and her husband, when both of their children were born with special needs. Her first born, Leah, was born profoundly deaf while her second daughter, Lucy was born premature with spina bifida and cerebral palsy. The Dvd’s were made at first to help family and friends communicate with Leah. The response was great, and now we have many Dvd’s to watch as well as 26 episodes on Public Television Stations. I was a little skeptical at first, I have to admit. Yeah, I saw the kid on Meet the Parents sequel, and it was pretty cute that he could sign. But could a toddler, better yet, a baby really learn to sign. I had no idea how fast babies can pick up on sign language. My daughter, who just turned one yesterday, has picked up almost every sign on the Baby Signing Time DVD volume one, and we have only had it for about a week and a half. Volume one teaches very useful signs to babies like: baby, eat, drink, milk, juice, mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, potty, diaper, and so many more. Not only does it teach sign language, but at the same time I found my daughter learning new words, like owee. One clip in the DVD says “Hopkins (the frog) has an owee! ” My daughter started going around saying OWEE. It was so cute. She wakes up every morning looking for the DVD singing Baby, Baby, Baby, for Baby Signing Time. One of the songs is called “The Pets I Love”, it has signs like bird, cat, dog, horse, frog, and fish. Not only can my daughter now sign them, but she can say: Nay Nay Nay for the horse, and Meow, for the cat. The animation is very cute and grabs your child’s attention immediately. The songs are very catchy, and make learning easy, not to mention totally get stuck in your head all day. For added emphasis, there is the CD that corresponds with the DVD. It had all of the songs from the DVD on it. My daughter loves listening to it in the car, I even catch her signing to herself in the mirror that is in front of her car seat. She absolutely loves learning new signs! The last song “it’s Baby Signing Time” is a very sweet song that I feel Rachel wrote to her daughter’s. I think that is my favorite song. Signing Time is not just for special needs children, everyone will benefit from watching Signing Time, although it is a great help to those who have a special needs child to communicate with their children. . A friend of ours has a daughter with Down’s Syndrome, and it has made it so much easier to communicate with her. Hopefully learning sign language will also help my daughter through the upcoming “Terrible Two’s”, since it is thought some of it has to do with frustration of not being able to communicate what they want. I have already seen this at the dinner table. Instead of pitching a fit, my daughter can now sign juice, or more, or all done. It has made a huge difference. I definitely recommend this series to every parent out there. It really works! Baby Signing Time is for babies 3-36 months, but there are many Dvd’s for children 1-8. They are great for all ages! So get Baby Signing Time and start learning today! Go check out there Introduction Video here.
